Our standard AndAir VA-150 NBC Air Filtration System with manual override and adjustable air flow valves. We use only military grade air systems. Our air system moves 176 cubic feet of air a minute compared to there 60 cubic feet a minute plus ours is very quiet at 45 decibels. We also have 60 pounds of carbon compared to their 5.5 pounds.
This is their plastic home made air system with no manual override or any way to adjust airflow. This system will not meet Israeli standards! Their air system is loud at over 70 decibels and is not adjustable.
Atlas Survival Shelters uses only military grade NBC Air Filtration Systems from companies like AndAir or Bethel who produce thousands per year. All NBC Air Systems from Atlas will have a manual crank in case power is lost. All Atlas air systems are made from metal housings and have readable gauges and adjustments for air flow.
The competitor home-built filter is cheaply made and not in the same league as our Swiss air system! This air system which has no manual crank and was made only to save money will not meet Israeli standards and is just a way to cut costs and take advantage of unknowing customers who have trusted them to save their families' lives in case of a disaster.

The Atlas hatch is made of 3/8″ AR500 bullet proof steel and is embedded in 12″ of concrete. This hatch is called a nuclear blast hatch and was originally designed by the US Nuclear Civil Defense Department. Atlas would never make a hatch that is not bullet proof or only 1/8″ thick.
This hatch is one year old and is already rusted out. The lid is made of thin sheet metal steel and has a screen door handle for its lock. This is a hatch for a tornado shelter, not a nuclear fallout shelter!
The Atlas hatch has a tamper proof steel box to protect the tamper proof padlock from torches or a grinder.

They use 4" PVC plastic for their air pipes. It will melt in fires and can be broken easily. It also opens up easily and would allow anyone to pour water or gas into the shelter.
Our doors are both gas tight and water proof. If the shelter is not air tight, biological, chemical, and some radiation will get into the shelter.
Their doors are just solid metal doors focused on stopping bullets. They have forgotten that these shelters are supposed to be protected from NBC.

The competitor makes simple shelters.
Anything that we do not hot-dip galvanize we will at least sandblast and apply either an automotive type of paint on the interior and the hatches. You don't see your car rusting, do you?
They do not sandblast. Without sandblasting, the paint just will not stick to the steel. This explains why their shelters are rusting out so fast.
The Atlas hatch is made of 3/8″ AR500 bullet proof steel and is embedded in 12″ of concrete. Our hatch is hydraulically lifted due to the extreme weight of the hatch. The emergency jack that's included with all shelters will lift 16,000 pounds.
Their hatch is the same hatch you use on tornado shelters. Their hatch is made of 1/8″ thin sheet metal that is not bullet proof. They're more focused on making their interior door bullet proof. The exterior hatch should be bullet proof and the interior door should be gas tight to do it right.
To enter into an Atlas designed shelter, you must first go through a bullet proof nuclear blast hatch, and then enter through two gas tight marine grade doors to enter the living quarters. The mud room – or decontamination room – has a shower in it as specified by the nuclear regulatory department.
To enter into our competitor's shelter, you go through a mild steel tornado style hatch and then at the bottom of the stairs is a metal door that is not air tight or gas tight. There is no place to disrobe or take a decontamination shower. Their shelter is just a tornado shelter with a home made air system in it, and now they call it a bomb shelter.
This image shows a properly engineered entrance into a nuclear fallout shelter. It must have a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the stairs. All Atlas shelters are engineered correctly and built correctly.
The competitors shelter is not engineered the way Atlas is built. It does not have a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the stairs as shown in their own design. This, however, is a fine tornado shelter.
Notice our tamper-proof air pipe system. Our system not only protects you from vandals, but it also cools the air down before it enters into the shelter through our patented air condensation system. Also, our air pipes are 6″ in diameter compared to 4″ in diameter for the competitor, which means you get 50% more air.
The competitor has no such system. They simply run a 4″ diameter air pipe straight up from the shelter to the surface. On a hot summer day, you will be pulling in 90 degree+ air into your shelter, which could suffocate you.
We use 6″ diameter galvanized steel for our air intake pipes. Our system brings in 50% more air.
They use 4″ diameter cheap PVC plastic air pipes for their air. Their system brings in 50% less air.

The competitors staircase in this picture is 8 months old, according to the owner. It is rusting because it is not sandblasted and has a cheap primer and paint. Much for their lifetime warranty and 150 life paint job!
Our hatch opening is 36×80 inches and the stairs are on a 35 degree angle which makes it easier for the handicap and elderly to get down the stairs. Plus our hatch is bulletproof. Our hatch will have 12 inches of concrete poured around it.
Their hatch is 32×60 inches and the stairs are on a 45 degree angle which will make it difficult for the elderly to use.
